For all of us and our families, our health is our most important issue. The Beet team and the staff of the Vanderbilt are dedicated to making the event safe. So, I wanted to share our plans.

Our sessions will be held in a very large conference room with separated seating. Our lunches and dinners will be served outside. Masks won’t be required in our meeting and dining area but will be in public areas. The hotel will be strict health and safety protocols throughout the property.

Travel to Puerto Rico

While Puerto Rico is part of the United States the territory has taken special steps to keep the population and visitors safe. It has the highest vaccination rate in the U.S.

It requires travelers entering the territory, before their flights, to upload proof vaccination and proof of a negative test via an authorized test provider. But untested travelers can enter if they are tested within 48 hours of their arrival. (Beet will provide authorized testing onsite.)

Even though you don’t need to be tested before your flight, we strongly suggest it. And we suggest a PCR test versus a home test.

COVID Testing On-Site

While most attendees will be tested before their flight, we will have a testing company on site, at the hotel, to provide rapid tests to all participants before we begin. Testing is on Wednesday from noon – 6 p.m. at the hotel. Test kits will be available for late arrivals and for anyone who wants to be tested during the event.

If you Test Positive -- The Beet Insurance Plan

If you test positive before your flight, we will miss you. We will apply your registration fee to another Beet Retreat within the following 12 months. We are not responsible for cancelled travel plans.

If you arrive at the Vanderbilt and are positive, you can’t join us. You are welcome to stay at the hotel. (Not a bad place to be stuck!) Beet.TV will cover your room charges for up to five nights at the Vanderbilt or at a comparable property in San Juan. The registration can be applied for a future Beet Retreat in the following 12 months.

Flying Home If you are COVID-positive

Heading back follows CDC guidelines for domestic travel. Which means you don’t have to be tested to get on a plane to return. Out of concern, you may want to remain quarantined, but you can fly back on your return or another flight.
